10 Ways to Fight Body Acne

By  |

Fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2015 have been quite a challenge to those with body acne and blemishes. With more backless dresses on the market and a hotter sun, body acne has become a major problem and a confidence shaking issue. Here are 10 ways you can stop and prevent body acne.

1. Hydrate: drinking water helps clear out skin and prevents dryness and eczema which contribute to skin dryness and break outs.

2. Shower up: showers are very important especially after work outs to eliminate all the dirt and sweat that can block up pores and contribute later on to skin problems and acne.

3. Scrub: mild exfoliants and sugar scrubs are essential in removing dead cells and allowing healthy skin cells to surface instead. Exfoliation contributes to smoother skin, promotes skin growth, and improves blood circulation. Exfoliate once a week and moisturize afterwards using an oil-free moisturizer.

4. Spot on: using spot treatments containing 10% Benzoyl Peroxide will treat spots locally. Avoid sun exposure upon applying the spot treatment.

5. Breathe: light, loose fitting clothing is essential in preventing acne. Sweat aggravates break outs and contributes to body acne, so next time you’re out shopping for new gym clothes, avoid the spandex and tight gear.

6. Spray on: acne treatments available at the drug store include spray ons. Sprays ensure wider exposure than creams or ointments and so are preferred for body use.

7. Wash up: using anti-bacterial shower gels and medical soaps every time you shower is much better than using fragranced products that dry out skin on the long run. Next time you go shopping for shower gel, look for a product containing alpha-hydroxy acids and glycolic acids to exfoliate skin too.

8. Eat right: healthy foods like fruits, vegetables, and fish contain anti-oxidants, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids which give an overall boost to your health.

9. Get some sleep: fatigue and tiredness wears out the skin more than it wears out your body. Get 8 hours of sleep every day (exactly 8) and adjust your biological clock to avoid skin and serious health problems down the line.

10. Stress-less: easy on the stress. Get a stress ball at work, take things lightly, and take long deep breaths. Stress is one of the main reasons for acne in teens.
